Amster, Amster, dam, dam, dam

I love Amsterdam. All my friends who travel with me, we should go. it has beautiful unique architecture, cheese or whipped cream on everything, gorgeous design elements, and i must admit, that i like the dutch school of painting than italian Renaissance. i have also told mom and sara that three times.
i love the canals. they are so romantic. i love the dutch people. they are very nice and are quick to laugh. at least the ones i've met are. and they have great shoes for people with feet in the higher numbers.

madigan

that means "little dog " in irish. i'm wondering if the -gan bit is the bit that means "little", because reagan means "little king" in irish.
anyway, she's our 2nd 2nd dog. we got her 2 weeks to the day after murphy died. we got her at the heber animal shelter b/c our local one has had issues with kennel cough, plus we had heard they had over-crowding issues in heber. we played with 2 puppies, a red chow-chow mix and maddie. we had been told that there was a sale on black dogs b/c they are not likely to be adopted. murphy was black and white, so we were ok with it.
the red dog was very interactive and social, which we liked. maddie was very small, just 6 weeks old and one of like 16 puppies. i just grabbed a black girl out of the pack. we held her and she snuggled. then we put her back in the pen to think about it. while we were talking about it, we look at the pen, and maddie was sticking her head and paw through the chainlink fence. then she got her other front paw out. we thought she was going to get stuck, when she shot through and came running back to us.
well, that sealed it. she's our dog.

she is so funny! she is the fastest housebroken dog i've ever seen. she copied toula immediately. toula has gotten used to her now and they tattle on each other and help each other out.

oh...and at the shelter, we asked how big she would get. the guy looked at her and said "i guess she will be about beagle size." well, about 4 weeks ago, her paws exploded. and she started looking more like a pit bull. so at 4 months, she is 27 pounds. we are thinking she is a pitbull/black lab mix.

we love her and consider her a GREAT asset to our little family!

just a little vacation from blogging.

since my last post, many, many, many things have happened. some good, some not good.
i'm reminded looking at my previous post, that the puppy i introduced you to, Murphy, has died. it was very sad. and 2 weeks later, we got a new puppy at the shelter, Madigan, aka Maddie.

i haven't taken as many pictures of her as i did of Murphy, but she's black and white, as well. she was 6 weeks old when we got her, but she chose us. we held a couple of different puppies at the shelter, including her, but she wiggled out of the fence and came running back to us. so she went home with us and slept on my neck until she got some body fat and felt safe. they told us she would probably be about "beagle-size". except now that she is 3 months old, we can tell she is a pit bull mix and her paws are huge! she is the sweetest dog and is way more fearless than Murphy ever was. she's a good dog.

nate and i also went to ireland. i'd say it converted nate to at least going to ireland every couple of years. we had a fabulous time with our friends heather and jesse. i will probably post more later.

and then, i started 2 new jobs. here at home, not an hour away! so happy nate supported my decisions to quit the two jobs i had in little rock, because i love my jobs and being here at home.

nate got a motorcyle. its gorgeous. i just need him to keep coming home safe. (dad had a motorcycle wreck in february, but is ok now).

our flowers in the garden are blooming! roses and gardenias!

i'm going to europe in a few weeks. probably more to tell about that later, too!

i'm already remembering things i wanted to write about, it just took me a long time to get back here...lots going on with not liking my old jobs to being scared about money to having a pet die.

but i'm back.

Meet Murphy

this is our newest addition, Murphy. she was born in the shelter and when we came to look at the available puppies, she was the last of her litter. that was the same case with toula, except she was born somewhere else. toula loves her....she's is her own personal dog. and murphy idolizes toula...wants to do everything she does, therefore, its been a little easier to housebreak her b/c she follows toula's lead. we love her!
